The worries of Patanjali seem to grow further. After misleading advertisements of washing powder and hair oil , Yoga guru Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali has once again come under the scanner, this time for its well known toothpaste Dant Kanti.
Patanjali advertisement for Dant Kanti is considered to be 'misleading' by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).
According to Consumer Protection Act, 1986 , advertisements which are misleading fall under Unfair Trade Practices. Unfair Trade Practices are not allowed by the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. The Consumer Redressal forums at District,State and National Level, look into such matters.
As per the ruling of ASCI, the advertisement of Dant Kanti states that it is "Effective Against Pyorrhoea, Swelling & Bleeding of Gums, Yellowing of Teeth, Sensitivity & Bad Breath and protects your teeth for a longer time and provides a natural shield against germs," which do not have any proper backing.
According to , Consumer Protection Act, 1986 , proper test should be carried out before claiming the needfulness or the usefulness of products. Therefore, this issue should also be brought to the notice of State Commission, to check the authentication and to find out if Patanjali is carrying out any UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES.
